Spray-on coatings are widely available in home improvement stores and are often chosen for their low cost and bright, glossy finish. However, this method has limitations.

When done by a non-professional, it’s easy to end up with smudges, bubbles, or thin spots. The coating layer is relatively fragile and can chip or scratch easily, with a typical warranty of only up to six months.

Hiring a professional improves durability, but raises the price significantly. Drying takes at least two days, which can be inconvenient if the bathroom is in regular use.

Even with professional work, spray-on refinishing is less durable than factory-applied finishes and requires gentle handling to avoid damage.

Pour-on refinishing costs more upfront, but delivers a thicker, more resilient coating. The material’s flexibility helps it resist mechanical damage and creates a smooth, seamless surface that can look like a factory insert.

With proper application, this method can extend a bathtub’s life by 7–15 years. High-quality materials ensure an even, attractive finish that’s easy to maintain.

While the price is higher than spray-on, the longer lifespan and durability often make it more cost-effective over time.
